SIMMS is easy enough to be used by a high-school student at a cash register, but can be scaled-up to meet the extensive demands of the Chief Information Officer. SIMMS does not require months of training or years of customization before it delivers a significant return on investment.
We kept in mind that if accountants designed the product, it might not meet the demands of the other departments of an enterprise, and if we allowed technical people to design it, our end users would probably also have to be software engineers. While designing a powerful, high-end product, we realized that it could get very complicated from a daily use perspective, thereby rendering it impractical.
